Airline offends with World Cup Tweet

Twitter users strike back against KLM

The Netherlands' Royal Dutch Airlines, known as KLM, is the latest company to make a social media mistake by offending a whole country, Mexico.

After the Netherlands scored a last minute victory over Mexico in the World Cup, the company took to Twitter. It tweeted "Adios Amigos #NEDMEX." It also posted a photo with a cartoon image of a Mexican man in a sombrero - with a giant mustache.

It didn't take long for outraged fans to start expressing their distaste. Several people called it "racist" and "offensive." The offended included Mexican actor Gael Garcia Bernal. He responded to the tweet with some strong language criticizing the airline, and saying he will never fly them again.

The airline deleted the Tweet - but has not commented on it.
