ORANGE PARK, Fla. -

Alicia Gladden's life was honored by her friends and family Friday night during the Orange Park v. Creekside basketball game.

Gladden died unexpectedly in a car accident on Roosevelt Boulevard in Avondale back in April. Police said the driver of the other car was drinking and speeding and collided head-on with Gladden.

Gladden played her high school basketball at Orange Park High School before becoming one of the key players for the Seminoles in Tallahassee.

When her playing days were over, Gladden became an assistant coach at Creekside High in St. Johns County.

Gladden's parents were standing mid-court Friday night as they retired Gladdens' number, '23,' before the game against Creekside.

Gladden's parents told Channel 4 that she was a player and a coach her cared about her team on and off the court. Gladden starred on the Florida State women's basketball team from 2003-2007. She is the only Seminole to capture ACC All-Defensive Team honors, three times.
