FDOT said Jacksonville Sheriff's Officers and crews with the Environmental Protection Agency worked to make sure the road was safe before re-opening it.

FDOT said the guardrail near the on-ramp to I-95 from Lem Turner was damaged, and repairs will begin Thursday, but officials said the repairs shouldn't impact traffic much.

A damaged section of asphalt has been repaired with a patch.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has not said how many cars were involved or how many people were hurt.
