Amazon rumored testing grocery drive-thru

Customers would order online and pickup groceries at the store

SILICON VALLEY, Calif. – There are reports Amazon is expanding past the web.  It plans to open grocery stores.  The best part is, customers wouldn't even have to get out of your car.

Silicon Valley Biz Journal reports, the store would be in the form of a drive-thru.  The retail giant is testing the store in Silicon Valley.

Customers would order their groceries online and schedule a time to pick it up.  No word on if the ordering process would be through Amazon's main site.

According to planning reports, customers would have a 15 minute to two hour time frame to pick up their order.  The store would be set up similar to how a gas station is, with a main building and an eight-stall pickup area.

There is said to be a project underway in Sunnyvale.

Amazon already offers customers the chance to buy groceries online.  Just like regular products bought on the site, the non- refrigerated items would be delivered to customers' houses.  There is also Amazon Fresh, which is available for people in California.

Amazon has not confirmed the reports of a drive-thru grocery store.
