Annual Veterans Day Parade honors those who serve

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The city of Jacksonville paid tribute to members of the military, past and present, on Wednesday.

The annual Veterans Day Parade kicked off at EverBank Field at 11:01 a.m.

The parade highlighted Jacksonville's Week of Valor celebrations, a week honoring those who have served our country. The parade, which historically has been one of the largest in the state, featured senior military officials, active-duty and retired military units, local high school marching bands, decorative floats and more.

Those who are headed out to Wednesday's parade were encouraged to wear red, white and blue. Flags, banners and signs were also welcome.

This Veterans Day, some businesses are showing their support for those who have served our country.

At Applebee's, Bob Evans and Olive Garden, veterans and active duty military can get some free entrees.

At Golden Corral, from 5 to 9 p.m., anyone who has ever served in the military can get a free dinner.

A recent Wallet Hub survey ranks Jacksonville as the 39th best city for veterans out of a list of 100 cities.
