Arlington fire kills two pet cats

Homeowners were away, neighbor called 911

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A fire at a home in the Beacon Hills and Harbour neighborhood of Arlington killed two pet cats living in the home, the homeowners said.

A neighbor says he called 911 then broke a window to see if anyone was inside.

"I came outside to go haul some stuff off and saw a neighbor running down the street," the neighbor said. "(There was) smoke coming out of the roof. "I chased her over there. She was able to see in the window and immediately called 911. Luckily, I had my phone on me so I dialed immediately."

No people were inside. The person who lives at the resident was coming back form St. Augustine.

JFRD said that four or five pets were rescued.
