While prior musical training is not necessary to participate in the Jacksonville Children's Chorus or Young Men's Chorus, the groups say an audition is required.

Children will be placed in the appropriate choir group based on skills, maturity and readiness.

The audition process is quick and simple, and you do not need to bring a prepared audition piece.

A conductor will listen for the singer's ability to match pitches, to learn a simple tune and to hold one's voice part against others, according to the organizations.

Auditions for most choirs will be held through August, however there are limited spots available. The groups said auditions are being held by appointment only.

Below are the following dates added in August:

  • Tuesday, Aug. 13: 4:30-5:30pm - Orange Park
  • Thursday, Aug. 15: 4:30-5:30pm - Downtown
  • Tuesday, Aug. 20: 4:30-5:30pm - Orange Park
  • Thursday, Aug. 22: 4:30-5:30pm - Downtown
