Autopsy: Medical emergency may have caused officer to crash
An off-duty Jacksonville police officer who died in a fiery crash with a tractor-trailer on June 21 had no drugs or alcohol in his system, according to an autopsy report.
According to the report, coronary artery disease was a contributing factor in Officer Tchenter Wilson's death, suggesting he may have had some kind of medical emergency behind the wheel.
Wilson, 43, was a 15-year veteran of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
The Florida Highway Patrol said Wilson was driving south on Busch Drive in his personal SUV around 7:30 p.m. June 21 when he crossed into the other lane and hit a tractor-trailer.
Wilson was rushed to UF Health at Jacksonville, where he died.
