"Most areas will clear out by noon hours, but there is a possibility of persistent fog at the beaches today, particularly in the Golden Isles of south Georgia," said Channel 4 Meteorologist Rebecca Barry. Areas to the east of the Intracoastal Waterway may be slower to clear, and cooler throughout the day. Brief, light drizzle is also possible as the fog dissipates this morning."

Drivers can stay safe on the road by following some simple rules.

-- Slow Down. Don't drive faster than your vision.

-- Be Cautious. Fog can become thicker without warning and without being noticed until it is too late to react.

-- Increase Following Distance. Ensure enough reaction time and stopping distance.

-- Use regular low-beam headlights.

-- Use windshield wipers and defroster as necessary to maximize visibility.
