Bathroom fire closes Bradford Middle School

STARKE, Fla. – Students evacuated after a fire in a bathroom at the Bradford Middle School have been dismissed for the day.

The students were moved to the gym of Bradford High School, where parents could pick them up.

Police said the fire started between 10:10 a.m. and 10:35 a.m. and was quickly extinguished.

The blaze originated in the trash can of the boy's restroom in the seveth-grade hallway, according to the Starke Police Department.

No students, staff, or emergency responders were injured.

After the state fire marshal examines the scene, the district will immediately begin repairing any damage.

A reward is being offered up to $5,000 for any information received that may lead up to the arrest of those involved.
