Bond denied for mother accused of murder in death of 3-year-old daughter

Maryanne Schwartz says her child was killed in hit-and-run crash

ORLANDO, Fla. – An Orange County judge on Friday denied bond for an Orlando mother accused of killing her 3-year-old daughter.

Maryanne Schwartz, 22, was charged with murder and child abuse on Wednesday after Orange County medical examiners determined her daughter, Yeliani Schwartz-Ojeda, was a victim of homicide.

Schwartz had claimed her daughter was killed by a hit-and-run driver a week ago at their apartment complex near the Mall at Millenia.

Schwartz missed her first court appearance on Thursday after being placed under medical observation.

She did not appear in court on Friday either, but her public defender was there to represent her.

Bob Larr refused to say anything about the case as he left the Orange County Jail on Friday, but the judge had the final word on whether Schwartz would be allowed to see her son, whom the Department of Children and Families said showed signs of abuse.

"There are additional terms the court would order as to the child abuse charge that she has," the judge told Larr.  "No unsupervised contact with minors."

That clears the way for Schwartz to see her son if someone else is with him.
