JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – With a little more than six months to go until the first election in Jacksonville's mayoral race, two of the candidates have put more than $1 million in their campaign war chests.
Last month, Mayor Alvin Brown raised about $8,800 for his campaign.

The August fundraising numbers were due in to the Supervisor of Elections Office on Wednesday.
That brings Brown's campaign fundraising totals to nearly $485,000.
In addition, the political committee supporting his campaign, "Taking Jacksonville to the Next Level," has raised more than $1 million.
In August, Republican Lenny Curry's campaign raised nearly $64,000. That brings his total to more than $310,000 in just three months of fundraising.
He's also supported by a political committee, Together for a Greater Jacksonville. That committee has raised $694,000.
The third well-known candidate, Republican council member Bill Bishop, raised about $9,200 last month. That brings his total to a little more than $50,000.
