JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two weeks of early voting for Jacksonville's May 19 election for mayor, sheriff and eight City Council seats begins at 18 locations around the city Monday.
Saturday Sheriff candidates talked to local veterans and answered questions they had.
The event took place at Florida Coastal School of Law. Both candidates used talking points early in the discussion.

"It's the difference between winning an election and running an organization," Republican candidate Mike Williams said.
"It's time for us to have a sheriff that can connect and resonate with the people. One that's not governing from behind the desk," Democratic candidate Ken Jefferson said.
The election for sheriff is right around the corner and both candidates are full speed ahead working toward their goal of becoming Jacksonville's next sheriff.
The candidates spoke about what they will do if elected.

"I have a plan, No.1. It's been published. All I need to do now is get elected and implement that plan I'm already out in the community," Jefferson said.
"Who has really shown historically the ability to be able to do this job on day one and I think I've done that," Williams said.
Some topics discussed were: gang violence, morale within the department and minorities within JSO.
"I have over the course of 23 years held every supervisory level in the agency I ended my career as nO. 3 in the department I understand leadership the budget and the day to day," Williams said.
"I pledge to reduce violence crime drug activity and gang activity by 25 percent my first year partnering with the community," Jefferson said
Election day is May 19. Whoever wins will start the job on July 1.
