A 46-year-old Jacksonville man was sentenced to life in prison Thursday morning as a habitual felony offender, a violent career criminal and a prison release re-offender.
Harvey Holmes was convicted in March on charges of armed robbery and armed burglary.
In June 2009, Holmes held up the Sonic restaurant located on Regency Square Boulevard. Holmes attempted to open a locked door at the business. When he couldn’t get inside, he shot into the door and shattered the glass.
Holmes then entered the business, took a bag of money and fled the area on foot.
Holmes was later captured by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit.
Holmes has felony convictions dating back to 1987 for burglary, robbery and armed robbery.
He was released from prison eight months before committing the Sonic restaurant crime.
