Central Fla. officials warn of juror scam
Officials in central Florida are warning residents of a possible juror scam.
Investigators said the caller apparently tells people that there is an outstanding warrant for their arrest because they didn't appear for jury duty.
Court officials in Orange County say they've received calls from residents about the scam.
Officials say the caller tells people that there won't be further action if they make a payment. If they don't, the caller warns that they could be arrested.
Officials say the caller has mentioned Chief Judge Belvin Perry.
Anyone receiving a similar call is advised to hang up and contact jury offices in either Orange or Osceola counties. They say law enforcement does not contact citizens to solicit money for failure to appear for jury duty.
