Chief Petty Officer Pride Day event held today

JACKSONVILLE, Fla – Over 900 Chief Petty Officers, Retired Chief Petty Officers and Chief Petty Officer Selectees from 43 commands at Naval Station Mayport, Naval Air Station Jacksonville and Naval Station Kings Bay will gather at the Veteran's Memorial Wall to celebrate CPO Pride Day.

"This event unites chiefs, sets the example and promotes Chief Petty Officer Pride. By displaying true camaraderie and mess cohesion, Chiefs are enabled to challenge, through competition, the newest generation of Chiefs," said Senior Chief Eric Powell.

At 8:00 a.m., Colors and the National Anthem will be observed. The Chief Petty Officers and Chief Petty Officer Selectees will then recite the Sailor's Creed followed by a moment of silence. Chiefs and Selectees will then march to Metropolitan Park where the selectees will hold a cadence competition.

"We're gonna do a cadence competition. Get fired up. Those chief selects will be marching it up on the stage here at met park. We got a couple of trophies it's going to be a good time," said Chief Petty Officer Wayne Allen.
