Citizens restarts bidding for Jacksonville office space

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Citizens Property Insurance Corp. has started a new bidding process as part of its plan to move into a consolidated office location in Jacksonville.

Parties seeking to negotiate with Citizens have until Sept. 4 to submit bids. A "calendar of events" included with the bid announcement, which went out Tuesday, indicates Citizens would like to move staff into the new building or buildings in July 2015.

Citizens plans to consolidate operations in Tallahassee and Jacksonville into single offices in both cities, while moving most of its information-technology staff from Tallahassee and Tampa to Jacksonville.

Citizens currently leases four facilities in Jacksonville, four in Tallahassee and one in Tampa. The move is expected to save the state-backed insurer $12 million over five years.

An initial bid process was halted earlier this month after the state-backed insurer determined that all four companies submitting proposals failed to properly include required materials in their bids. Three of the bids failed to propose an unqualified firm offer, while two of the bids didn't include required financial documents.
