JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The city has approved a permit for Vistakon, a division of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc. to build a new shell structure for its expansion.
According to the Financial News & Daily Record, the 22,887-square-foot building will be built on about two acres on Vistakon's Deerwood Park campus. The structure is expected to cost $2.5 million.

The City Council approved a $6.9 million grant for the $218 million project. The state assistance comprises a $1.5 million contribution and $225,000 to train the workforce.
Vistakon told the city and state it will create up to 100 jobs at an average wage of $65,000 plus benefits. The project involves making the latest generation of Acuvue disposable contact lenses.
