City asking for feedback on St. Augustine pedestrian lane

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The City of St. Augustine is asking for community feedback on the multi-use pedestrian pathway on South Street.

The new lane is located on a half mile stretch between Riberia Street to Maria Sanchez Lake. The city installed this pedestrian lane in early November for a 60 day trial period. They now need help on deciding whether to keep it or install a permanent sidewalk in it’s place.

When the city first installed the lane, there were traffic cones dividing the space meant for drivers and pedestrians. City officials said the trees and houses near South Street have kept the Community Redevelopment Agency from installing sidewalks and this multi-use path was another option.

The city says the multiuse pathway is meant to be both a pedestrian and bike lane. Now that the public has had a chance to experience the change, the city wants input on how useful it is.

If you use South Street, share your opinion through this survey.
