Clay under local state of emergency

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – Clay County remains under a local state of emergency after three days of heavy rain sent Black Creek out of its banks and flooded roadways in the area.

The county's Emergency Operations Center continues at level 3 activation Monday. Damage assessment teams were scheduled to go door-to-door to inspect homes and see who needs help.

No residents checked into the shelter at the Middleburg First Baptist Church during the storm, so it was closed Sunday morning.

The county's phone bank also closed, but residents with concerns or questions regarding flooding or damage can still call Clay County Emergency Management at 904-284-7703.

The American Red Cross will be at Clay County Fire Station 14, located at 4003 Everett Ave in Middleburg at 2 p.m. on Monday to distribute free clean-up kits to Clay County residents in need.
