Clerk of Court offers free V-Day wedding

Wednesday last day to apply for marriage license for Valentine's Day wedding

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – While there's still time to sign up, the deadline to get a marriage license for the Duval County Clerk of Courts' Second Annual Valentine's Day Wedding Ceremony ends Wednesday.

About 20 couples will take one another's hand in marriage, all during one ceremony, on the grand staircase in the seven-story atrium lobby.

Officiating the ceremony, as he did last year, will be Ronnie Fussell, Clerk of the Circuit and County Courts.

The Wedding Ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. and the public is invited.

The brides and grooms-to-be who would like to sign up for the event may do so by visiting http://cocvalentinewedding2014.eventbrite.com.

Participating couples will have to purchase their marriage license from the Clerk's Office no later than Tuesday, February 11. Marriage licenses are not valid until three days after issuance.

For the ceremony, the brides are welcome to bring their own flower bouquets, but a single-rose arrangement will be provided to every couple.

The ceremony fee will be pre-paid, though participating couples will still have to purchase a marriage license.

Following the ceremony, the brides and grooms will attend a warmly decorated reception where donating vendors will provide them cupcakes for their wedding-day experience.

Their guests are invited to join them for light refreshments and desert-style snacks.
Deputy clerks will also be on-hand providing photography.

Discs of their wedding-day photos will later be sent to them free-of charge.

Several vendors are donating to the event, including The Cake Shop of San Jose, which is providing the cupcakes for the reception.
