Committee approves hiking ticket surcharge for city facilities

Bill still needs approval of full City Council

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville City Council Finance Committee has approved a bill creating a ticket surcharge hike.

It would increase ticket prices at city facilities like the Veterans Memorial Arena, the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville and the Florida Times-Union Center.

The city the increase could generate $1.4 million a year, which would be used to help improve those facilities.

The bill still has to pass full council, which meets next week for its last meeting of the year.
