Community Hospice holds event for kids

Halloween Doors and More caters to kids with certain conditions

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Community Hospice held their 9th annual Halloween Doors and More event Saturday, a fundraising event to raise awareness and funds for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.

Halloween Doors & More was developed in 2005 to build financial support and raise awareness of Community PedsCare while also delivering a memorable experience for Community PedsCare and First Coast families.

At the annual event, patients and their families had the opportunity to enjoy activities and entertainment where accommodations were made for the children's conditions without hampering their fun.

The event was held in an indoor facility at the Fairgrounds on Saturday from 3-8:00 p.m.

Halloween Doors & More is a gala of a different sort with fun and festive activities, not scary or spooky. Children trick-or-treated for toys at 14-feet-high fantasy "doors."

For many parents, watching their children work their way through the doors is the best part of the whole event.

Halloween Doors & More raised more than $425,000 in its first year, making it the biggest inaugural fundraiser in the city of Jacksonville. Since its inception the event has raised more than $2.8 million for Community PedsCare.
