Containers fall on man's van while he's inside

JSO: Container got away from operator

Police said employees with a shipping company were moving some containers, one got away from the operator and fell.  It knocked several containers over the business' fence.

Matthew Jannetti was sitting inside his grandparents' van on the other side of the fence. He was on his lunch break from the nearby Junior's Seafood.

"It sounded a little weird and all of a sudden two containers fell onto my car while I was sitting in it but I was on the other side so nothing hit me or anything. I had to push the windshield out to get out. I got scrapes on my hands, arms and bottom of my feet. But besides that, I'm okay," said Jannetti.

Police said each container weighed approximately 10,000 pounds.

"I was talking with some of the officers that are here.  They say that he should go buy a lottery ticket today.  It's certainly his lucky day ... to have at least three land on his vehicle.  It's pretty amazing," said Sgt. Richard Knecht with JSO.

Jannetti said he was planning on buying that van from his grandparents.

"I just need a new car so I can get to work. I'm just happy that I wasn't hurt and I had a strong enough car that it didn't crush me or the car," said Jannetti.
