Waldon was convicted in a three-year crime spree that included drug dealing, robbery, kidnapping and the murder of a convenience-store owner in the back of his police cruiser. He was sentenced to four life terms in federal prison.

His attorneys now argue that the grand jury that indicted Waldon was not properly informed, and the jury was biased by pretrial publicity.
