Corrections officer arrested after failed drug test

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A correctional officer was arrested Monday after a random drug test led to her admission that she was using heroin and other drugs, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Lisa Davis, 40, had worked as corrections officer for almost 7 years. She passed a pre-employment drug screening before she was hired in December 2009, but her random drug sample taken earlier this month turned out to be a mixture of chemicals, not human urine, authorities said.

When confronted, Davis initially said she had provided her own urine, but then admitted to using drugs, including prescription medications and heroin, Undersheriff Pat Ivey said.

Ivey said all JSO employees are randomly drug tested. Three other sheriff's office employees have been terminated after positive drug tests, but Davis was also arrested because falsifying the test is a crime.

Davis was charged with unlawfully falsifying a drug test, a first-degree misdemeanor.

She was the fourth JSO employee arrested this year.
