Council picks Imeson location for elections center

Supervisor of Elections Office to move from Gateway Mall

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After a year-long debate about where to locate the Duval County Supervisor of Elections Office, the Jacksonville City Council voted 13-6 Tuesday evening to move the elections center to One Imeson Center on the Northside.

Supervisor of Elections Jerry Holland wanted to move his office to that location from the Gateway Mall. Mayor Alvin Brown had recommended it remain at the mall under the terms of a new lease that included building improvements and lower rent.

Lease agreements for either location would cost the city at least $3 million less over 10 years than the terms of the current lease of the Gateway center.
