JFRD rescue unit hits pedestrian on I-10

All lanes of I-10 WB at Lane Avenue blocked

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – All lanes of Interstate 10 westbound at Lane Avenue remain closed after a Jacksonville Fire-Rescue unit hit a pedestrian on the highway late Wednesday morning, according to JFRD spokesman Tom Francis.

Traffic is being diverted onto Lane Avenue, causing a traffic backup to the I-10, I-95 interchange.

JFRD said the injury was life-threatening.

Police said a man about 40 years old was struck by Rescue 31. Witnesses told traffic homicide investigators it appeared the man intentionally walked into traffic.

The man's name and other details were not released at the scene.
