Drivers injured in crash on San Jose Boulevard

1 driver's injuries are life threatening

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two drivers are in the hospital after an accident involving three cars Wednesday night on San Jose Boulevard.

All lanes were closed at 8500 San Jose Boulevard for nearly four hours.

Three cars were involved with one person inside each car were involved in the crash about 11:40 p.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The reason for the crash was not immediately available.

Officers with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office tell News4Jax one driver was trapped. The roof of the car had to be torn off to get them out. That driver was taken to UF Health Jacksonville with life-threatening injuries. 

The driver of another car was taken to Memorial Hospital as a precaution. The third driver was treated at the scene. 

Northbound lanes of San Jose were diverted onto San Clerc Road, while cars on southbound lanes were being turned around. The accident was cleared and all lanes reopened just before 5 a.m.
