Two displaced after Arlington apartment fire

No injuries reported

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two people are unable to return home after a fire Saturday night at an apartment building in Arlington.

Jacksonville Fire Rescue was called to the Summer Oak at St. Johns Apartment Homes at about 7:30 p.m.

No injuries were reported.

Fire crews were on the scene within minutes to put the fire out. JFRD said four units were involved, two of which had heavy smoke and water damage.

The American Red Cross is helping two adults that were displaced by the fire, and found them a motel room.

Witnesses at the scene described the fire.

"Literally just the entire building is just gone," said Johnny Armstrong, who saw the fire. "The entire face of the building is just gone. I thank God nobody was actually inside of the building when it happened."

JFRD was able to get the fire out in about 20 minutes. The State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause.
