JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two thieves were caught on a homeowner’s surveillance camera searching through vehicles Tuesday in the Sutton Lakes area, which is off Atlantic Boulevard.
The crime spree has the family and the neighborhood on high alert.
Chris Jones said his family couldn't believe what they were seeing when they watched the video.
At least two males, either teenagers or young men, can be seen trying to steal things from vehicles early Tuesday morning.
One of them walks up to Jones’ pickup truck, opens the door and begins to search inside.
The second one walks up, looks into one of the surveillance cameras and walks away.
It appears that the pair realized the home had surveillance cameras.
One of the two, who was wearing a baseball cap, looks straight into the camera before leaving.
Jones said he was glad they were caught on camera.
“I was a little mad, then I was excited, because I could clearly see their faces, so I'm like, 'This is going to stop,'” Jones said.
Jones filed a police report and gave investigators a copy of the video.
He said all his family wants is for the two men in the surveillance video to be caught.
