Two men were shot in separate shootings just over an hour apart Friday night

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police are investigating two Arlington shootings that happened just over an hour apart late Friday night, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.

The first shooting happened behind the Citi Trend shopping center on Fort Caroline Road, where a man suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot to his torso, police said.

An off-duty officer who was at an area hospital was notified at about 11:20 p.m. of a walk-in gunshot victim. The victim said he was walking behind the shopping center when he heard several “pops” and felt pain in his upper body, then saw a dark-colored sedan speed away, police said.

Police did not release the victim’s name or any information regarding possible suspects.

The second shooting happened just over an hour later, where a man was found at the intersection of Cesery Boulevard and Columbine Drive with a gunshot to his upper torso, police said.

The man was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries, but was alive and conscious when police found him, officials said.

Authorities did not release the victim’s name or any information regarding possible suspects.

Police have not said if the two shootings are connected.
