The shooting was reported about 1:45 p.m. on Wright Avenue, just off St. Augustine Road in the Pine Forest neighborhood on the city's Southside.

According to records, Hines and Robertson are charged with murder, attempted murder, possession of weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon and failure to appear in court. The pair got into an argument with an unnamed man over drugs in November. Hines and Robertson both started shooting at the third man. He ran. They missed, but a stray slug went through the wall of the house, killing Alston, who was not involved in the argument.

Hines and Robertson are not eligible for bail. They are both scheduled to appear in court on March 30.
