Armed man unmasked during Jimmy John's robbery

Police searching for man who escaped with cash from register

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jimmy John's employees unmasked an armed robber who got away with cash from the register last week, Jacksonville police said.

The robbery was reported at the store on Beach Blvd. east of I-295 just before 8 p.m. July 28.

The man, who was wearing a mask and sunglasses and was armed with a handgun,  reportedly entered the fast-food restaurant, showed the black handgun and demanded money from the safe, police said.

The man, who was caught on surveillance video, took money from the register, but after a struggle with employees, his mask and sunglasses fell off, police said.

The man possibly fled to a dark colored, four-door sedan that was occupied by an unidentified driver, police said.

He was described as a white man, 45 to 55 years old, about 6 feet to 6 feet, 2 inches tall and weighing 170 pounds.
