Police: Man robs SunTrust Bank on San Jose

Man hands teller note demanding cash, leaves in SUV, police say

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man robbed the SunTrust Bank on San Jose Boulevard about 10:30 a.m. Monday, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police said the robber was described as a white man in his mid-30s about 6 feet, 3 inches to 6 feet, 5 inches tall and weighing 280 pounds. He was wearing a blue Florida Gators baseball cap, a black jacket, a dark t-shirt and black shorts.

According to the sheriff's office, the man walked into the bank, approached a teller and handed the teller a note demanding money. The man did not say anything, and was given an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police said the man did not threaten anyone and that no customers were in the bank at the time.

The man left the bank, walked north to the parking lot of the Welcome Food Store and drove away in a dark-colored SUV wagon-type vehicle with a roof rack and gray trim, police said.

There were no passengers in the vehicle, police said.

Police later released surveillance images captured by the bank's security camera.

According to News4Jax archives, this was the seventh bank robbery reported this year.
