ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – A 51-year old Duval County man was arrested Wednesday on a charge of capital sexual battery stemming from an investigation by detectives with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims’ Unit.
The suspect, identified as Donald Hope Carter, was arrested by Jacksonville police officers at his residence and was booked into the Duval County Jail on the St. Johns County warrant.

He was later moved to the St. Johns County Jail.
The investigation began when the female victim, who is under the age of 12, disclosed to her father allegations against the suspect, who was friends with the family. The victim said that the suspect sexually assaulted her while he was visiting her father’s home in St. Johns County earlier this year.
Additional charges are pending further investigation by detectives. Carter is being held on a $250,000 bond.
