20-year-old killed in Westside double shooting identified

Shooting on Goldilocks Lane leaves man dead, 2nd hospitalized

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police have identified the man killed in a double shooting Thursday night on Jacksonville's Westside as 20-year-old Marcus Malik Washington.

A second man seriously injured in the shooting was not named.

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Sgt. Robert John said police were called to Goldilocks Lane after reports of gunfire and found two young adults shot. One was dead and the other was taken to a hospital in serious condition.

A News4Jax source said the shooting was a drive-by, but John could not confirm that or provide any suspect information on the shooter or shooters.

John said detectives were working to find witnesses and to determine exactly where the shooting took place.

He said there are no preliminary indications of a connection to gangs, but police are still working to identify the victims.

The shooting death is the 19th homicide in Jacksonville of 2016.

“One homicide is a homicide too many in my opinion," John said.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
