Stolen vehicle possibly involved in Raceway gas station shooting

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police are asking for the public’s help Saturday identifying the man seen in surveillance images stealing a car that authorities believe is connected to Friday's fatal shooting at a gas station in the city’s Brentwood neighborhood.

On July 31, a silver 2013 Kia Forte, with Florida tag BLGB57, was stolen from the Ramada Inn on Hartley Road.  A white man was seen in surveillance images walking the parking lot, entering the car and driving away, officials said.

Authorities believe the stolen vehicle may have been used in the shooting that happened about 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Raceway Gas Station on Golfair Boulevard.

Police said James Young was shot several times and died of his injuries. 

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office homicide Sgt. Jay Farhat said Young was shot multiple times, and he was likely targeted.
