Stabbing suspect leads police to Hyde Park home

Police surrounded home on Miss Muffet Lane South

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police surrounded a home on Sunday in the city’s Hyde Park neighborhood on the Westside after a suspect in a stabbing was thought to be there, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.

Authorities told News4jax that a person drove away from the home on Miss Muffet Lane South after being stabbed in the chest. Police said they found the victim stopped in their car at the corner of Normandy Boulevard and Lane Avenue.

The victim told police that they believed the person who stabbed them could still be at the house.

At 10:57 a.m., officers surrounded the home at 6936 Miss Muffet Lane South.

Police said they didn’t know if anyone was in the home, so they treated the scene as a hostage situation.

Police breached the home with rifles drawn and discovered that neither the homeowner nor the suspect was inside.

Police said they are searching for an unknown black man who has been seen at the residence on a previous visit.

The person stabbed suffered life-threatening injuries, officials said.
