Woman killed in Brentwood shooting identified

Jacksonville police searching for suspects

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police have named the woman killed in a shooting at a Brentwood gas station early Sunday morning.

According to a release from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, 25-year-old Jessica Daniel was killed while sitting in a SUV at a gas station on North Main Street near the Martin Luther King Jr. Expressway about 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

A man also in the SUV was shot and hospitalized. His name has not been released.

An employee at the gas station said there was an argument between the man in the SUV and another man before shots were fired.

Police released surveillance photos of a suspect but do not know who he is.

A witness said he saw a lot of blood when the driver got out of the car and heard him screaming.

"We're still looking to locate witnesses or try and retain some video from the business to try and determine what happened," JSO homicide Sgt. Robert John.

Investigators said they do not know the relation between the two victims or whether they knew the shooter, who remains at large.

A woman who lives nearby said she often hears gunfire.

"In this neighborhood, you hear them all the time," Debrah Troy said. "You get upset, you know. Something happened to somebody."

Anyone with any information about the double shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
