Darts And Laurels (6/15/2001)

Darts to the Jaguars management -- they're singing the blues over an upcoming Tim McGraw Concert at the stadium on August 3rd. That's the same day the Jaguars are set to scrimmage on a nearby practice field with the New Orleans Saints, and they're claiming dibs on the facilities. Come on, guys--play nice and share--the city owns Alltel Stadium and they say the concert stays.

Schools out, but laurels keep coming for students who excel, like the three from James Weldon Johnson Middle School who made the finals of the National History Day Fair with their student-made documentary on the Berlin Airlift.

Darts to the City of Jacksonville for shutting down the boat ramps at Sisters Creek -- they see they need a month to get ready for the Kingfish Tournament. Maybe organizers could hook up with those who set up the Greater Jacksonville Fair -- they manage to set up in a matter of days--not weeks.

Laurels to the city of Jacksonville Beach and the hundreds of volunteers who donated their time and labor to build Sunshine Park, a neighborhood park for families; it shows what's possible when a community gets behind a project.
