Woman killed, 3 hurt in Alachua County crash

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – A Jacksonville woman died Sunday afternoon after a traffic accident just south of High Springs, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the driver of a Chevy Cruze came to a stop on U.S. 27 to make a left turn. The driver of a Chevy Express van did not stop in time and ran into the back of the Cruze. The Cruze was pushed into oncoming traffic and struck a Ford F-250 before coming to a stop.

Investigators said there were two passengers in the car. One of the passengers, Patricia Eleanor Bryant, 71, of Jacksonville, died in the crash. The driver, Henry Willard Bryant, 74,  and the other passenger, Vonda Lynette Eddy, 49, both of Jacksonville, were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the van, Michael John Provan, 23, was also taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the pickup truck, Steven Trautz, 49, was not hurt.
