MARION COUNTY, Fla. – The Putnam County Sheriff's Office announced Friday that the body of a man found in Marion County Thursday has been positively identified as 46-year-old Floyd Anderson "Andy" Parrish.

Parrish, of Interlachen, had been missing since last Friday.

The remains, which were buried in a wooded area in an isolated part of Marion County, were sent to the Leesburg Medical Examiner's Office for positive identification and to determine a cause of death. That examination was completed Friday.

Parrish's death is being investigated as a homicide and charges are anticipated, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said.

Police now have 52-year-old Richard Gertler (pictured) in custody. He is charged with armed burglary and grand theft auto for stealing Parrish's car, police said. He is being held without bond on those charges.

Police said that while Gertler has not been charged with murder, he is a person of interest in Parrish's death. Gertler told investigators that he paid Parrish $12,000 for some of Parrish's guns.

Investigators said they found Parrish's SUV in the Whitehouse area of Jacksonville. Police are using that information and other evidence to piece together what happened.

Investigators are asking anyone with information related to the case or has purchased a firearm from Gertler to call the Putnam County Sheriff's Office at 386-329-0801 or Northeast Florida Crime Stoppers at 888-277-TIPS. Anyone providing information that leads to an arrest and conviction could be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.
