Deputies hunt for Kangaroo robber

HAWTHORNE, Fla. – A Putnam County Kangaroo convenience store was robbed early Thursday morning, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies are searching for the robber, who is described as a white man with blond hair and blue eyes, and wearing a red shirt and beige khaki shorts.

Deputies said the man held up the two clerks at the convenience store at the intersection of State Road 20 and State Road 21 at about 2 a.m.. He indicated he had a gun in his pocket, but he did not display a weapon during the robbery, they said.

No one was injured during the incident, deputies said.

According to the police report, the man had been hanging around outside the store for some time before he entered and announced his intent to rob the clerks. He told them he had a gun and demanded cash from the register, deputies said.

After grabbing an undetermined amount of cash from the cash register, the robber fled on foot southbound on SR 21 and then on County Road C-20A.

Deputies began searching the area for the robber, but he has not been found yet.

Investigators have determined that the robber had been seen in the area of the Kangaroo store at various times during the last three days.
