Deputies ID man in January homicide

60-year-old killed by stabbing, investigators say

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – The badly decomposed body of a man found in a marsh area behind 16 Covington Lane in Palm Coast in January has been identified as that of 60-year-old Dennie Keith Cayton, of Palm Coast.

At the request of Dr. Predrag Bulic, the Medical Examiner for the 23rd District of Florida, the victims' remains were sent to the Anthropology Section of the University of Florida for Osteological Examination.

The Flagler County Sheriff's Office said it recently received a report of the findings of that examination, which identified the victim as Cayton.

Cayton was not married, was unemployed and at the time of his death, and lived at 16 Covington Lane.

The Medical Examiner's Office has ruled the death of Cayton a homicide by stabbing.
