Deputies seek suspect in credit card fraud

Credit card number used at CVS, Walgreens

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – Deputies are searching for a man in connection with the fraudulent use of a credit card that took place at two businesses last month.

According to deputies, the man took the victim's skimmed credit card number to use at a CVS Pharmacy at 175 State Road 312 on July 26 on two cartons of cigarettes.

On the same day, that man used the same card number at a Walgreens at 2075 U.S. 1 South for other purchases.

Deputies said the man showed a clerk at the CVS an ID that matched the victim's name on the credit card. However, investigators said they believe the man may have skimmed the victim's credit card number and encoded onto a counterfeit card, or an old card that had his name on it, or he may be using a fake ID with names that match the ID and credit card.

Deputies describe the man as black and in his early to mid 20s. He is between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs between 175 to 190 pounds. He has a medium build and short black hair.

Anyone with any information on the identity of this man is asked to contact the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office at 904-209-3988.
