A 20-year-old Keystone Heights woman is facing several charges after deputies say she stole her parents' car while her 2-year-old daughter was in a car seat in the back and drove recklessly through Orange Park before trying to hit deputies' cruisers.
Tiffany Rowland (pictured below) is charged with aggravated assault with a motor vehicle on a law enforcement officer, aggravated child abuse and grand theft auto.
Deputies said Rowland stole her parents' car when her parents went into a Dollar General store to buy dog food.
Deputies said Rowland drove recklessly through various areas of Orange Park, ultimately trying to hit responding deputy cruisers with the car before crashing through a chain-link fence in the 1000 block of Camp Francis Johnson Road at Blanding Boulevard -- the Ridgecrest Wastewater Treatement plant.
Deputies found that a metal pipe from the fence went through the windshield and out the rear window, barely missing the child.
The Department of Children and Families responded and placed the child in protective care with a family member.
Deputies said it's unknown at this time how much monetary damage was done to that facility, but a section of the fence line was destroyed.
Rowland was not injured and remains in the Clay County jail with bail set at $70,000.
No deputies were injured and the child was unharmed.
