Bomb scare causes bus station evacuation

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Greyhound Bus Station downtown was evacuated after a bomb scare was called into the business Thursday evening.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office received a call from the bus station around 5 p.m. saying a suspicious backpack was found and that there was a bomb threat called into the station.

Officers and the Bomb Squad responded to the scene and shut down Bay Street and Forysth Street between Clay Street and Pearl to investigate the incident.

Police said this was the second time a bomb threat was called into the station this week and believe it is same person making these calls.

Customers were transported in taxis so they could catch a different bus somewhere else.

The roads are now back open, according to police.
