Dozens gather to help family of Daniel Rowe

Rowe was Blind Rabbit employee who was robbed, shot, killed

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Dozens gathered Saturday at Intuition Ale Works in Riverside for a fundraiser benefit to help the family of a 20-year-old man.

Daniel Rowe was the Blind Rabbit employee who was robbed, shot and killed about three weeks ago while taking the trash out at work.

He left behind his fiancé, two children and a third child on the way. Police are still looking for the two suspects.

Nearly a dozen businesses got together to help Daniel Rowe's family. Every dollar earned goes to them.

"We're doing everything we can to help everybody out. That needs the help with us," said Daniel Rowe's father, Steven Rowe.

Steven Rowe was working across the street at Kickbacks when his son was shot. He said he will never forget that moment he got the news and the toll it's taken on his family.

"One day at a time. It's a long road from healing until they catch the two that did this. One day at a time is the only way we can do it," Steven Rowe said.

For Steven Rowe, it helps knowing the community is behind him and Daniel Rowe's loved ones.

"The first thing I thought of were his parents," said Lindsay Hawkins, of Intuition Ale Works. "Like I said, my child, I just couldn't even imagine. Then I immediately thought about my staff working here late at night. You know, walking out to their cars at night."

Though the fear of knowing the suspects are still out there, still comes a feeling of togetherness and a push for justice for Daniel Rowe.

"I got people coming up to me saying, 'Oh, I worked with him,' I did this. It's awesome. To know my son at 20 years old touched so many lives, it's pretty cool," Steven Rowe said.

A $7,000 reward is being offered for information in the case. Those with tips are asked to call Crimestoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
