JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A 57-year-old woman is in critical condition after her SUV left Old Kings Road and struck a tree Tuesday morning.

According to Jacksonville Sheriff's Office traffic homicide investigators, she was driving south in the Dinsmore area about 7:45 a.m. when witnesses say her Jeep Cherokee cross the center line, drive off the highway, clip a telephone pole and strike a tree head on.

Jacksonville Fire-Rescue transported her to UF Health Jacksonville.

"She did receive some injuries from the crash, but it's probably going to be some sort of medical thing that started it," Sgt. Donald Washington.

The woman's name was not released at the scene.
